I HAVE ONLY USED THE PROCESS DESCRIBED IN THIS GUIDE ONCE.THIS PROCESS REQUIRES EDITING, DELETING, AND CREATING SAVED GAME FILES, so if that isn’t something you are comfortable with, you’ve been warned. In fact, it might even be faster for some to just start a new game and speedrun back to the appropriate point. The process described in this guide is going to be somewhat complicated and so might take you a while to complete.Important Notesīefore I begin with the main part of the guide, there are a few things you should know: The purpose of this guide is to show how to start that mission without having to start a new game. I spent a long time looking online for a way that I could go back and start that branch mission, but everywhere I read said that the only way to begin that mission once you had gotten to this point was to start over completely with a new game. After you recover your x-server (this is also where you can get the Rude achievement – see other guides for details), you can respond to the Entropy e-mail and finish the mission.Īfter finishing this mission, I realized that I wasn’t able to start the branch mission that becomes available after you get revenge on Naix by deleting the x-server.sys on both his proxy and primary computers. Since I had played this through once before, I pretty much knew what to expect: after you delete the Macrosoft file from both his computers, he hits you with a trace that ends by deleting your x-server.sys file that you can’t avoid (actually not true – you can stop it from completing if you trigger a shell that is in trap mode that you already have running on your machine). I started a new game and spent the next several hours working through the main storyline, until I got to the mission from Entropy where you’re supposed to revenge hack a hacker named Naix. Recently, I started playing Hacknet again after the release of Labrynths. ![]() Don’t want to start a whole new game if you missed the Naix branch missions but wanted to play them?
